Feed the Future Uganda Youth Leadership for Agriculture (YLA) A USAID –funded activity will undertake a campaign in partnership with the Private Education Development Network (PEDN) to raise awareness on girls’ education and the value of women empowerment to commemorate the International Women’s Day running under the theme #BeBoldforChange

The overall objective is to raise public awareness on the value of girls’ completing an education by highlighting the challenges they face in their learning quest, whilst celebrating development efforts that have brought positive change for girls in communities across Uganda.

Specifically, the event is geared towards;

• Increasing awareness of and attention to the importance of a good education and the barriers girls often face.

• To support girls attain an education through channeling resources raised by partners through the events towards advancing education of those that are out of school.

• Engaging cultural influencers, corporate and government leaders to build an enabling environment for girls, promoting policy change and financial investment in their education.

This campaign will be carried out over a series of cinema screenings for the acclaimed film, Girl Rising (, a documentary movie highlighting the global campaign for girls’ education. This film follows 9 girls from Haiti, Nepal, Ethiopia, India, Egypt, Peru, Cambodia, Sierra Leone, and Afghanistan on their journey to education. In Uganda, this film is to be shown at Century Cinemax Acacia . The first show (29th March, 2017) will be a private show with only invited guests and their will be public screenings on the 7th and 8th April, 2017 starting at 2:00PM.
